Amyris announces agreement with Croda to exclusively license our sustainable squalene

We recently announced a new agreement with British specialty chemicals company, Croda, to exclusively license our sustainable squalene.
Squalene, used in adjuvants to boost immune responses, is commonly derived from shark liver. Our sugarcane-derived, sustainable squalene is molecularly identical to the traditional shark source, offering a higher purity and a more predictable cost profile compared to sourcing directly from sharks.
Established in 1925, Croda is the name behind sustainable, high-performance ingredients and technologies in some of the world’s most successful brands. Its life sciences division markets a portfolio of products and adjuvant systems to vaccine manufacturers around the world.
It’s an ideal partnership: we’ll manufacture and supply Croda with squalene, and Croda will leverage its experience in manufacturing for the pharmaceutical industry to market and sell squalene.
