Manufacturing

Grow with Global Demand

Years of experience as leading innovators in biomanufacturing have culminated in our flagship manufacturing site in Barra Bonita, Brazil. Commissioned in 2022, our plant houses 1.44 million liters of fermentation capacity across multiple independent lines, enabling simultaneous production of multiple products. Our plant is built for maximum flexibility and growth, and is Kosher and Halal certified, as well as Bonsucro certified.

A Global Benchmark in Smart Manufacturing

Our Barra Bonita Plant exemplifies the cutting-edge of industrial automation. Its integrated infrastructure includes centralized control centers and a robust data environment - we continuously analyze over a billion data points generated each day from process operations to support real-time monitoring, decision-making, and long-term performance optimization. Each molecule produced is governed by a unique recipe, allowing precise control over process parameters, and our hundreds of automated routines and operation screens developed under ISA 101 standards deliver efficiency and rock-steady product quality.

A Strategic Network of Partners and CMOs

We build, manage, and optimize a strategic network of partners, including CMOs with specialized capabilities in certain downstream operations. This ensures agility and flexibility in scaling new products and integrating internal and external operations. Our network enables us to respond rapidly to evolving market needs, deliver consistent product worldwide, and ensure uninterrupted supply through business continuity planning.

Chemical Processing

At our facility in Leland, North Carolina, we finish thousands of metrics tons per year of product. An ISO 22716 Cosmetics GMP certified site, our attention to excellence in the production, control, storage, and shipment of ingredients ensures customer satisfaction and brand confidence.

Engineering

Leveraging deep technical expertise and understanding of our production processes, our engineering team collaborates seamlessly across departments to drive expansion and improvement initiatives. Our projects maximize system reliability, reduce environmental impact, set industry benchmarks, and underscore our commitment to excellence and client success.

Quality & Regulatory Affairs

Our team combines technical expertise and operational excellence to ensure we can produce and sell in the geographies and end-markets important to our customers. Our deep regulatory knowledge ensures product and facility compliance – highlighted by Biosafety Quality Certificates across our factory, CMOs, and warehouses. Additionally, our Quality Management Systems enforce strict controls, standardized processes, Good Manufacturing Practices, and indicator monitoring. Our team is prepared to interpret regulations, anticipate trends, and propose innovative solutions to complex challenges.

A Supply Chain with Global Scale & Local Agility

From technology development to global distribution, our integrated operations ensure that our ingredients reach the market safely, efficiently, and reliably. We combine global reach with local agility, operating facilities in Brazil and the U.S., and leveraging a proven network of CMOs to respond to evolving market needs and ensure consistent product quality worldwide. Working closely with our seasoned Regulatory and Quality assurance team, we ensure that every raw material and finished product meets the highest international standards.

Sustainability

From improving strain efficiency to implementing new engineering projects, we continuously optimize our processes to minimize ecological impact. Our feedstock is produced and harvested ethically and sustainably, following the strictest guidelines established by Brazilian law and by Bonsucro - an international, non-profit, multistakeholder governance group established in 2008 by the World Wildlife Fund to promote sustainable sugarcane. We have co-located our electric substation with the adjoining sugar mill’s co-generation facility, positioning us for a zero-carbon future in fermentation production.
